Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney was not too impressed with some of the transfer business Chelsea did in the last summer transfer window.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It has been a really difficult season for Chelsea, who could miss out on qualification for European football next term.<\/p>\n

\n

The Blues are currently 10th in the Premier League table and have next to no chance of qualifying for the Champions League.<\/p>\n

Many have put their poor campaign down to their recruitment last year, including Rooney.<\/p>\n

Wayne Rooney slams Chelsea for selling Noni Madueke and buying Jamie Gittens<\/h2>\n

In the previous summer transfer window, Chelsea sold Noni Madueke to their London rivals Arsenal.<\/p>\n

While he departed, Jamie Gittens arrived from Borussia Dortmund. The decisions to sell Madueke and sign Gittens have truly baffled Rooney.<\/p>\n

Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show, the England icon said: \u201cI think Chelsea will have to sell some players because they\u2019ve got a big squad and have made some very strange signings. Selling Madueke to Arsenal and signing Gittens, I just didn\u2019t get that, I didn\u2019t understand it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Madueke will have no regrets about leaving Chelsea for Arsenal. While his former club are fighting to stay in the top half of the table, he is on the verge of winning the Premier League title with the Gunners.<\/p>\n

Wins in their final two games against Burnley and Crystal Palace will be enough to secure Arsenal their first league crown since 2004.<\/p>\n

As for Gittens, it is too early to say. He has been injured for a large chunk of the season, so the 21-year-old is unlikely to be reflecting on his move, understanding why things have not gone to plan yet.<\/p>\n

Jamie Gittens was never signed to replace Noni Madueke and was logical addition for the left flank<\/h2>\n

After such a bad season, it is easy to look at Chelsea and say they should have kept Madueke and not signed the likes of Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho.<\/p>\n

That point is going to be emphasised if Madueke wins the title with Arsenal, which is a real possibility.<\/p>\n

But what those outside of Chelsea keep ignoring is the fact that Gittens was not brought in as a replacement for Madueke. They prefer playing on opposite wings, though it must be mentioned that Enzo Maresca did start to use Madueke on the left towards the end of last season.<\/p>\n

Still, Gittens and Garnacho effectively replaced Jadon Sancho and Mykhailo Mudryk, while Estevao Willian is the one who has taken Madueke\u2019s spot.<\/p>\n

With Sancho heading back to United before being loaned to Aston Villa and Mudryk banned from playing football, it made sense to sign two new left wingers.<\/p>\n
