West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen has responded to criticism from the club\u2019s fans regarding his performances and leadership by making major admissions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jarrod Bowen\u00a0has been\u00a0West Ham\u2019s\u00a0best and most consistent player since arriving at the London Stadium back in January 2020.<\/p>\n

\n

Bowen has carried the Hammers on his back for the last two years.<\/p>\n

However, this season \u2013 and particularly the last few months when West Ham have had real hope of staying in the\u00a0Premier League\u00a0\u2013 it has started to show in the skipper\u2019s tired and worryingly worsening performances.<\/p>\n

Bowen says fingers have been pointed at him as he makes major West Ham admissions<\/h2>\n

There have been big question marks over quiet Bowen\u2019s suitability to be West Ham captain from the start.<\/p>\n

Noise around his leadership \u2013 or lack of it \u2013 has grown louder among Hammers fans of late as West Ham look nailed on for relegation.<\/p>\n

Bowen is fully aware of the criticism from supporters.<\/p>\n

Because he has responded to it in a TV interview with Sky Sports, making major admissions in the process.<\/p>\n

West Ham\u2019s Prague hero has conceded he has not played well enough this season.<\/p>\n

And Bowen has also admitted he has made mistakes as captain.<\/p>\n

But he insists he has always given his all and has seen being West Ham captain as a \u2018huge honour\u2019.<\/p>\n

He says the role comes with added pressure, responsibility and being blamed by fans.<\/p>\n

And the Hammers ace has told supporters he is \u2018only human\u2019 as speculation swirls that he will be leaving the Hammers if they are relegated to the Championship.<\/p>\n

Bowen admits he has not been good enough for West Ham and has made mistakes as captain<\/h2>\n

\u201cTo captain the football club is a huge honour, let\u2019s not get away from that,\u201d Bowen told Sky Sports.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s still the biggest honour anyone can have in their careers. Of course that comes with extra responsibility, extra questions to be answered and people pointing the finger at you.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been here six years now, I think I understand how this club works, how they (West Ham fans) want their players to play, how they want their team to play.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo for me I just try and be the best version of me. I\u2019ve said it a couple of times in interviews, I get things wrong as captain, I\u2019m only human.<\/p>\n

\u201cI won\u2019t play as well as I like in some weeks, which is normal. I think from where I\u2019ve been people expect you to almost score every week or do something every week. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s what I try to do but sometimes it doesn\u2019t hit those heights and you\u2019ve got to be brave enough, it\u2019s easy when things are going well and you take the plaudits and different things but I think you really learn about yourself when the fingers are being pointed and the questions are being asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn my career I always want to look back at it and have no \u2018what ifs\u2019 no regrets, \u2018I wish I\u2019d have done that different\u2019. Obviously the situation has not been great this season and I haven\u2019t played to the standards I know I can but I\u2019m big enough to accept that I just haven\u2019t played well enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bowen has been linked with a plethora of clubs with the Hammers on the brink of the drop.<\/p>\n

Chelsea, Newcastle, Man United and Liverpool have all been credited with genuine interest in the Hammers skipper.<\/p>\n

On the flip side, some reports have also claimed Bowen is open to staying and helping West Ham bounce straight back.<\/p>\n
