Former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher, who played alongside Xabi Alonso at the club, has delivered his verdict on Alonso at Chelsea.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Carragher will be very emotionally split right now, being friends with Alonso. He will not make any secret of the fact that he would have wanted Alonso to be managing Liverpool one day, and you can bet your bottom dollar that deep down he is annoyed that he will be managing Chelsea next season and hopefully beyond.<\/p>\n

So Carragher will of course be hoping his former team mate and friend does well as a manager, but at the same time, it will pain him that he wants Chelsea to do well! Great for us Chelsea fans to witness though!<\/p>\n

Carragher has picked out on the positive influence Alonso will have on the Chelsea players.<\/p>\n

In words picked up on X, Carragher said on Alonso last night:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s no doubt it\u2019s a fantastic appointment from Chelsea\u2019s point of view, when you consider how poor it\u2019s been for them this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the biggest thing for me, I think, will be not so much what Xabi Alonso is going to do next season, but I do believe that Chelsea have five or six really top players, and there was murmuring that they were starting to think about their future, understandably so with no Champions League football, but I think with the appointment of Xabi Alonso, I think that could keep those players at the club.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other news today..<\/h2>\n

Chelsea beat Tottenham 2-1 last night, and Enzo Fernandez slammed a great goal to put The Blues ahead, striking one from range into the back of the Spurs net.<\/p>\n

Then it was midfielder Andrey Santos who bundled in the important second goal, with Fernandez grabbing the assist for it.<\/p>\n
