Premier League legend Wayne Rooney has praised Chelsea\u2019s ownership for realising they\u2019ve \u201cmessed up\u201d and now trying to fix it.<\/p>\n

Chelsea were taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital in the summer of 2022, and despite vast investment in the playing squad the results haven\u2019t been good enough.<\/p>\n

Despite winning two trophies last season, the Blues have qualified for the Champions League once in the last four seasons, not to mention the high turnover of managers.<\/p>\n

Wayne Rooney praises Chelsea ownership<\/h2>\n

Fans have protested against the ownership on multiple occasions throughout the season, with there simply no trust in BlueCo.<\/p>\n

The appointment of Xabi Alonso as new manager is at least a step in the right direction, but Chelsea have got to act differently in the transfer market.<\/p>\n

The Blues have a heavily youth focused recruitment policy, but it\u2019s obvious they lack leadership, know how and experience.<\/p>\n

Co-owner Behdad Eghbali has said the model will be tweaked, bur fans will only believe it when they actually see action taken.<\/p>\n

However, despite the wide spread criticism, Rooney has actually praised the ownership and jumped to their defence.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to praise the Chelsea ownership,\u201d he told The Wayne Rooney Show as quoted on X.com.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThey are obviously clever people, but I think they\u2019ve realised they\u2019ve messed up and now they are trying to fix it. So fair play to them for doing that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Chelsea officially announced the appointment of Alonso on a four year contract on Sunday, and he will begin work on July 1st.<\/p>\n
