Chelsea\u2019s ownership would love to appoint Eddie Howe as the club\u2019s next head coach according to Paul Merson.<\/p>\n

The Blues sacked Liam Rosenior on Wednesday following a run of five consecutive defeats in the league without scoring.<\/p>\n

Rosenior lasted less than four months in the job, and is the second head coach to leave Stamford Bridge this season following the departure of Enzo Maresca.<\/p>\n

Paul Merson claims Chelsea would love to appoint Eddie Howe<\/h2>\n

Calum McFarlane has been placed in interim charge for the remainder of the season, whilst Chelsea\u2019s sporting directors search for another head coach.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been reported there are seven or eight names under consideration, with Andoni Iraola thought to be an early front runner.<\/p>\n

David Ornstein expects an appointment to be made early in the summer, and Merson believes Chelsea would love to appoint Howe.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a big fan of Eddie Howe. If Eddie Howe leaves Newcastle, they\u2019ll be queueing up around the corner for him,\u201d he told Sky Sports.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo that tells you everything, be careful Newcastle.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cChelsea <\/span>would take him tomorrow morning, you\u2019d like to think so wouldn\u2019t you?<\/p>\n

\u201cIn my opinion, they\u2019d take him all day long. We\u2019re talking about a next <\/span>England <\/span>manager, 100%.<\/p>\n
