Poor Reece James is one of the few Chelsea players who consistently performs, yet he\u2019s also the captain and the most likely to have to speak out after a defeat.<\/p>\n

On Sunday he wasn\u2019t even picked to start, yet still had to face up and speak to the club\u2019s official website after the game.<\/p>\n

Reece James on Chelsea\u2019s disappointing season<\/h2>\n

\u201cWe need to digest this season. It\u2019s been far below our standards and we need to review and see where we can improve for next time,\u201d James said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cJust saying it (not qualifying for Europe) doesn\u2019t sound right. We\u2019re a club that has won a number of European trophies and this season we haven\u2019t even qualified. So, we have lots to learn and improve.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI think it (defeat at Sunderland) probably reflects how our season has gone \u2013 we\u2019ve underachieved. We had a few chances in the first half and we didn\u2019t take them. I feel if we had taken our chances, the game would have been different.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019re sick of hearing the same excuses and the same reasons, and we\u2019re sure Reece is sick of giving them. Next season is a fresh start, and a chance for something different.<\/p>\n
