Simon Jordan can be a difficult man to please, and Scott Parker\u2019s stellar track record in the Championship does not dispel the concerns of a man discussing West Ham United\u2019s immediate future.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hammers News <\/strong>can confirm that, following his sacking by Burnley in the spring, Scott Parker is an early frontrunner to replace Nuno Espirito Santo at a club where he won three successive Player of the Year awards between 2009 and 2011.<\/p>\n

\n

Only Steve Bruce has more promotions out of the second-tier as a manager than a man who guided Burnley to a 99-point haul in 2025, having already taken Bournemouth and Fulham out of the Championship.<\/p>\n

So, with West Ham United determined to bounce back at the first time of asking, Parker has understandably emerged as a leading candidate. <\/p>\n

But, speaking to talkSPORT, former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan cannot help but compare Parker\u2019s superb track record in the Championship with his dismal returns as a Premier League coach.<\/p>\n

If the former England, Chelsea and Tottenham midfielder did win the second division title with the Hammers, could he be trusted to preside over a top-flight campaign the following season?<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about what is the better alternative,\u201d Jordan said when asked about Nuno\u2019s impending departure. \u201cIt\u2019s very easy to sit and go; \u2018Well, you know what, he deserved to be sacked\u2019. What are you going to replace him with? <\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re going to replace him with someone like Scott Parker, maybe because it\u2019s playing to the gallery. He\u2019s a Championship manager that can get you promoted to the Premier League. Then, what are you going to do with him? <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat are you going to do with him in a year\u2019s time, because you\u2019re going to have him just to get promoted, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

If Wolves forward Adam Armstrong is the prime example of a footballer \u2018too good for the Championship but not good enough for the Premier League\u2019, is Scott Parker his managerial equivalent?<\/p>\n

Sacked immediately after Burnley\u2019s relegation, his record in the top-flight reads ten wins in 76 games.<\/p>\n

Hammers News <\/strong>can confirm that Nuno\u2019s exit could be officially announced this week. <\/p>\n

That \u2018pitiful\u2019 defeat at Newcastle on matchday 37 all-but sealed their fate, but Jordan also looks back at a dull 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace in April amongst a series of missed opportunities.<\/p>\n

\u201cI look at Espirito Santo, and my mind\u2019s eye tells you that he\u2019s a decent manager,\u201d Jordan muses. \u201cBut the fact is, he got 33 points (sic 36), and that wasn\u2019t good. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou look at the run-rate of his performances, and it\u2019s not good enough, really.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo there\u2019s a balance between, is (Nuno) a good manager? I think he\u2019s a good manager. I think he\u2019s proven to be a good manager. In this instance, I think the problems were deeper, and he didn\u2019t get to grips with them fast enough, and I think that\u2019s on him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there were two games that defined their season. <\/p>\n

\u201cI remember them going away to Palace when they were in good nick, and they settled for a 0-0 draw. And I thought at the time that might come back and bite them, because Palace were not in good form at that particular time. Palace were there to be beaten, and they didn\u2019t take the opportunity. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the dreadful performance they put in last week against Newcastle cemented (their relegation).\u201d<\/p>\n
