The Blues simply didn\u2019t bring in a better player to replace him. But that doesn\u2019t change the fact that many fans were pretty happy with a chunky loan fee for a player who was frustrating at the best of times.<\/p>\n Paul Merson thinks the club should do all they can to persuade Jackson to stick around next season.<\/p>\n \u201c(Chelsea) need players and they need a clear-out. I would get Nicolas Jackson back, I would rip Jackson back,\u201d Merson stated in quotes picked up on Football365. His long-standing point that Jackson makes Cole Palmer better was central to his thesis:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve said it before, Palmer made Jackson and Jackson made Palmer. Palmer\u2019s not on that plane (to the World Cup) because Jackson\u2019s not been there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n It\u2019s a little simplistic but we can see where he\u2019s coming from.
