The South American defender quickly became a fan favourite during his time at Stamford Bridge thanks to his leadership, while saw him as the driving force behind the Blues’ Champions League win in 2021.<\/p>\n

The fond memories is why many fans were excited by the possibility of Silva making a return to West London after he confirmed he would be leaving Porto at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Silva is currently working towards completing his UEFA Pro coaching licence in Scotland while also still being connected to the Blues through his children, who are part of the Blues’ youth academy at Cobham.<\/p>\n

However, despite speculation, according to The Sun, Chelsea have not<\/em> offered Silva a coaching role despite previous reports suggesting the 41-year-old could potentially return to the club to help guide the next generation.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Few players at Chelsea in recent season have possessed Silva’s level of experience, leadership and tactical know-how, so it’s a shame the club aren’t interested in utilising his skillset.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Chelsea currently have no immediate plans to bring Silva back into their coaching setup despite his ongoing post-playing career development work in Scotland.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n At the moment, it appears the club\u2019s focus remains elsewhere, and maybe that’s not surprising considering Xabi Alonso has yet to take charge officially.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Calum McFarlane, goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts and set-piece coach Bernardo Cueva will remain in place and form part of Alonso’s coaching staff with the 44-year-old also bringing long-time assistants Sebastian Parrilla, Alberto Encinas, Benat Labaien and Ismael Camenforte Lopez with him to Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n As for Silva, another major factor is that Chelsea already have a legendary former captain heavily involved within their Cobham academy structure.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n John Terry returned to Chelsea in July 2023 and continues to work on a part-time basis as an academy mentor, helping the younger players develop. The retired centre-back already holds a UEFA Pro License.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Consequently, finding a role for Silva \u201cisn\u2019t something of a priority\u201d for Chelsea given Terry is already working closely within the youth setup.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n During his 22 years at Stamford Bridge, Terry, who became part of the Blues’ first team in 1998, went on to play in 717 matches in all competitions and lift 16 major trophies, including the 2011-12 Premier League titles and the 2012 Champions League.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Follow<\/span>John Terry already heavily involved but no space for Silva<\/h2>\n
