{"id":14833,"date":"2026-07-06T21:02:50","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T21:02:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/playball.com.ng\/?p=14833"},"modified":"2026-07-06T21:02:50","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T21:02:50","slug":"blueco-serious-about-signing-phenomenal-english-midfielder-as-enzo-fernandez-replacement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/playball.com.ng\/?p=14833","title":{"rendered":"BlueCo \u2018serious\u2019 about signing \u2018phenomenal\u2019 English midfielder as Enzo Fernandez \u2018replacement\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div><!-- Article Start --><\/p>\n<p>Chelsea are keen on a deal for Alex Scott and want to bring the Bournemouth midfielder to Stamford Bridge as a potential replacement for Enzo Fernandez, according to a reliable source.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Enzo Fernandez<\/strong> is one of Chelsea\u2019s best and most important players, but speculation is rife that the Argentina international is on his way out of Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Incoming Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has identified Fernandez<\/strong> as one of his five leaders.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alonso is keen for Fernandez to stay at Chelsea<\/strong>who will be determined to finish in the Champions League places in the Premier League table next season under the former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen manager.<\/p>\n<p>However, <strong>Real Madrid are keen on a 2026 summer deal for Fernandez<\/strong>with Los Blancos president Florentino Perez said to be personally determined to take the Argentine to Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n<p>It has now emerged that <strong>Chelsea<\/strong> have already identified Alex Scott as a potential replacement for Fernandez.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: Sunderland v Chelsea: Prediction, team news, lineups and odds<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Chelsea target Alex Scott to replace Enzo Fernandez<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>According to <em>TEAMtalk<\/em>Chelsea are closely following the <strong>Bournemouth<\/strong> midfielder and believe that he would be able to replace Fernandez in Alonso\u2019s team.<\/p>\n<p>The reliable transfer news outlet has reported that Chelsea are doing background checks on the 22-year-old English midfielder.<\/p>\n<p>While noting Man Utd\u2019s interest in Scott, the report has stated: \u2018Chelsea are equally keen, with the Blues stepping up background checks and considering Scott a serious option for their own midfield overhaul.<\/p>\n<p><smartframe-embed customer-id=\"84d65181a95c24c4fea73e44b4e27a17\" image-id=\"ltKDiJY6FLfL\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 100%;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u2018An Enzo Fernandez exit is becoming more likely as the weeks roll by and Scott could be a replacement for the Argentinian international.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea, though, will face competition for Scott from clubs other than Man Utd, too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE: \u2018Who would that help?\u2019 \u2013 Tuchel explains Foden, Palmer snub in England squad announcement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Liverpool, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Arsenal are also said to have taken a shine to the 22-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea owners, BlueCo\u2019s, desire to sign Scott comes amid the Bournemouth midfielder\u2019s omission from the England squad for the 2026 World Cup finals this summer.<\/p>\n<p>England manager Thomas Tuchel named Scott in his 55-man \u00a0provisional group last week, but the 22-year-old is not part of his final 26-man squad.<\/p>\n<p>However, Scott will travel to the USA with England.<\/p>\n<p>Tuchel said: \u201cI\u2019m really happy these guys are with us, especially Alex, who was with us in the list of 55 and had a kind of disappointing phone call as well, that he didn\u2019t make the first cut but the reaction of him was outstanding, the commitment, the wish to be in pre-camp and to just be a step closer to the team was not even a question for him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe showed me his character and his spirit so I\u2019m delighted that he\u2019s with us because it was a close call and he gets a chance to take a step closer and get a cap.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scott said: \u201cI\u2019m gutted not to be part of the squad. I\u2019m not too upset because I feel like I\u2019ve done everything I could have done to be in there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut it\u2019s obviously nice that they really want me to go there and be a part of the prep camp as well and help the team prepare for the World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo that was never an opportunity that I was going to say no to.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to be great to be around the group again and help prepare for the fixtures in Miami in the heat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t wait for it. it\u2019s going to be amazing. And yeah, fingers crossed I can hopefully make my debut out there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Outgoing Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has described Scott as \u201cphenomenal\u201d and said: \u201cHe is more than good enough to be there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he has been phenomenal this season, the whole season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think in a defender role, trying to help the ones in the squad, I think he will be a great help for England.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis attitude has always been top. If they need him or something happens, he will be ready.
