second \u2018Chelsea reserve midfielder\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div><!-- Article Start --><\/p>\n<p>Journalist Samuel Luckhurst has ripped into Manchester United for trying to sign Andrey Santos and has mockingly tipped the club\u2019s co-owners, INEOS, to contact another Chelsea midfielder, Romeo Lavia, next.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Man Utd already have a deal in place for Ederson Silva<\/strong>who will join from Atalanta once he passes the second part of his medical.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Carrick\u2019s side, who will play in the Champions League next season, want to sign at least another midfielder, with Casemiro leaving and Manuel Ugarte injured for the long term.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Man Utd<\/strong> had interest in Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, but the overall costs for the midfielders were prohibitive for the Red Devils.<\/p>\n<p>Anderson joined Manchester City from Nottingham Forest for \u00a3116million.<\/p>\n<p>Tottenham Hotspur paid \u00a385m to West Ham United for Fernandes and \u00a3100m to Newcastle United for Sandro Tonali.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: Fabrizio Romano reveals Man Utd want \u20ac100m midfielder to take pay-cut to join after \u2018contacts\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Man Utd trying to sign Andrey Santos<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Man Utd are now trying to sign Chelsea midfielder Santos<\/strong>having made initial contact for the 22-year-old Brazil international midfielder midway through last season.<\/p>\n<p>Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has said on his <em>YouTube channel<\/em>: \u201cFor Andrey Santos, they had a contact with the agent of the player, and it\u2019s not the first contact because it\u2019s something that started long time ago in February and in March.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMan Utd had two meetings with Giuliano Bertolucci, the Brazilian agent who represents Andrey Santos, so there is a good feedback between Man Utd and Andrey Santos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is a possibility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a name that also Christopher Vivell, who was at Chelsea and then joined Manchester United management, knows very well.<\/p>\n<p><smartframe-embed customer-id=\"84d65181a95c24c4fea73e44b4e27a17\" image-id=\"ltKDzs7dTakj\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 100%;\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE: Fabrizio Romano says \u00a370m midfielder \u2018super keen on joining Man Utd\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, for sure, he\u2019s one of the names on the list.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the moment, Chelsea are yet to receive any bid for Manchester United.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Sun\u2019s Manchester United Correspondent, <em>Samuel Luckhurst<\/em>has written a column about Man Utd\u2019s current transfer targets.<\/p>\n<p>The journalist has torn into Man Utd for trying to sign a second-string Chelsea player in Santos and has mockingly tipped them to try for his team-mate <strong>Romeo Lavia<\/strong> next.<\/p>\n<p>Lavia has been on the books of Chelsea since 2023, but his impact at the London club has been minimal.<\/p>\n<p>Injury issues and competition for places have restricted the 22-year-old Belgium international defensive midfielder to just 43 appearances for Chelsea so far in his career.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Man Utd mockingly tipped for Romeo Lavia move<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Luckhurst wrote in <em>The Sun:<\/em> \u201cPerhaps Manchester United will contact Romeo Lavia next.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLavia, <u>like Andrey Santos<\/u>is another\u00a0Chelsea\u00a0reserve midfielder aged between 22 and 26,\u00a0United\u2019s preferred age range.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA search on Transfermarkt for the\u00a0most valuable Premier League-based central midfielders\u00a0aged between 22 and 26 throws up Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Ryan Gravenberch, Sandro Tonali, Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba, Alex Scott, James Garner and Amadou Onana before Santos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCaicedo and Fernandez are non-starters and so is Gravenberch, at Liverpool and once of interest to Erik ten Hag, what with him being Dutch and playing for Ten Hag at Ajax.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson have just moved for combined fees of \u00a3230million, United deem Wharton, Baleba and Scott to be overpriced, Garner signed a new contract in January and Onana was also considered by the old United regime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Sun<\/em> journalist, who has 678,000 followers on <em>X<\/em>also believes that Santos is more suited to Newcastle United than Man Utd.<\/p>\n<p>Luckhurst fumed: \u201cNine years ago, United bought a midfielder from Chelsea who had just helped them win the Premier League title in Nemanja Matic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMatic was recognisable.
