He signed a four-year deal when he arrived, after Chelsea beat Bayern Munich and other European clubs to his signature.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The winger made his senior debut in the FA Cup win over Hull City in February. His pace, direct running and left-sided profile give Chelsea another young wide option behind the senior squad.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chelsea still have big decisions to make out wide. Several senior attackers face uncertain futures, while Estevao and Geovany Quenda form part of the next wave.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Derry\u2019s new contract would not guarantee an immediate first-team role. It would give Chelsea control over the next stage of his development.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For now, the message is clear.
