Nicolas Jackson is set to return to Chelsea after Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl confirmed that they will not exercise the clause in his contract. The Senegal international could make a comeback to the Premier League or depart the Blues on a permanent basis with uncertainty surrounding his Stamford Bridge future.<\/p>\n
Jackson signed on a season-long loan with the Bundesliga giants and has enjoyed a successful stint with the club, winning the German top-flight. The 24-year-old has scored seven goals in 20 appearances, including an effort during their comeback win over Mainz as the reigning champions came from behind to stage a dramatic 4-3 win.<\/p>\n
The Chelsea forward could still play a further role yet with the Bavarians involved in the Champions League semi-final, where they take on holders Paris Saint-Germain, as well as the German Cup final against VfB Stuttgart.<\/p>\n

It comes after a surprise admisison from Eberl, who has revealed that they will not trigger his clause with just under a month of the season remaining.<\/p>\n
He told German media outlet ZDF: “We will not trigger the option for Nicolas Jackson.”<\/p>\n

It began: “Nicolas Jackson is having an excellent season: 28 games played 10 goals Champion of Africa, champion of Germany, and also qualified for the final.<\/p>\n
“Bayern Munich did not wish to lift the purchase option, and Nico remains 100 per cent focused on the Champions League semi-final against PSG, a very important moment for him and the club.<\/p>\n
“Bayern is a very large Institution; the most important thing is to win as many trophies as possible before the end of the season. “The future… who can predict? Trust the Process, Everything Is Possible.”<\/p>\n
The forward’s stint in Munich has meant that he has been an understudy to the prolific Harry Kane during his time with Bayern. The England striker has been in a formidable vein of form for Vincent Kompany’s side with his contributions putting him in Ballon d’Or contention.<\/p>\n
Since departing Chelsea last summer, Jackson’s parent club have had two permanent managers, with Liam Rosenior sacked in midweek.<\/p>\n
Jackson left while Enzo Maresca was preparing the reigning world champions for the new Premier League season but his time was cut-short and replaced by Rosenior, who only lasted a matter of months before being dismissed this week in the wake of their 3-0 defeat at Brighton.<\/p>\n
Jackson’s Stamford Bridge was reportedly by no means amicable after a dramatic move to Bayern.<\/p>\n
It has been said that the relationship with both parties is fractured after the Blues moved to cancel the loan agreement with the Bavarians at the eleventh hour following injury to Liam Delap.<\/p>\n
A Premier League move could still be on the card though, as there has been tentative links with the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle United.<\/p>\n
Radio station talkSPORT has claimed that Jackson is on the Magpies’ list of summer targets after their efforts to replace Alexander Isak did not play out as they’d have hoped.<\/p>\n
Nick Woltemade, who was also on Bayern’s radar, and Yoan Wissa have endured a difficult debut season in the North East while head coach Eddie Howe faces pressure after a poor season.<\/p>\n
