Chelsea’s disastrous transfer policy has been laid bare after some shocking figures emerged.<\/p>\n

Ever since BlueCo took the club over from Roman Abramovich, the focus has been on signing young talent with high potential.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, despite the American ownership spending well over \u00a31 billion, Chelsea have ended up with a bloated squad full of poor signings.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
There is no better example of this than Alejandro Garnacho.<\/p>\n

The Argentine winger might have seemed like a good market opportunity when they paid Manchester United \u00a340 million for him last summer, but they clearly didn’t do their due diligence.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The 22-year-old has talent, no doubt, but his attitude and unwillingness to be a team player has always hindered his chances of fulfilling his potential, and it’s already been proven.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
According to recent reports, Xabi Alonso has already made his mind up on the South American with the Blues willing to offload him after just one season.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Garnacho isn’t the only one who has this story, though. There are others, and that’s been highlighted in Transfermarkt’s recent market valuation update.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Along with Garnacho, fellow winger Jamie Gittens and midfielder Romeo Lavia are among the Premier League’s top five players to drop in value since July 2025.<\/p>\n

Constant fitness problems have prevented him from putting a run of games together, and after missing out on Belgium’s final 26-man World Cup squad for this summer’s tournament, it seems his decline is set to continue.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Therefore, it’s no surprise to see that all three have seen their transfer market value slashed in the past 12 months. Their accumlative declines total a whopping \u00a355 million. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n It would be amazing if Garnacho, Gittens and\/or Lavia turned their fortunates around, and while fans will be hoping they do, sadly, reality suggests they won’t.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n While Chelsea won’t get anywhere near to recouping the sums they paid for the trio, the club should still do everything in their power to find permanent solutions.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n It isn’t just that they’re inflating the squad unnecessarily, they’re also taking big wages out of the club. The trio earn just over \u00a3250,000-per week combined. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The mathematicians among us will know that’s over \u00a31 million a month, and with no European football next season, this is a financial hole BlueCo cannot afford to keep digging.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Follow<\/span> |
