Letting him join a domestic rival would be PR suicide for Chelsea. Watching him line up at the Emirates or the Etihad is a completely different prospect from seeing him move to Spain.<\/p>\n

If Madrid refuse to match that \u00a3120 million valuation, Chelsea must dig their heels in. Even if Fern\u00e1ndez decides to sulk through pre-season training, Alonso needs to show some authority. Losing your best midfielder to a Premier League rival because of an official statement from Spain makes zero sense.<\/p>\n
