Coventry City are plotting to raid Tottenham for an experienced midfielder ahead of their return to the Premier League.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There is a lot of uncertainty at Spurs as we approach the summer window, with the Lilywhites still far from assured of their place in the Premier League this season.<\/p>\n

The expectation is that many of Tottenham\u2019s highest earners will be sold if they go down, with the club needing to significantly reduce their wage bill in the event of relegation.<\/p>\n

It has now emerged that one of the clubs that could potentially replace the Lilywhites in the top-flight next season could raid Tottenham for a player who arrived at N17 not too long ago.<\/p>\n

Coventry City set sights on poaching Conor Gallagher from Tottenham<\/h2>\n

Some experts have said that Spurs would be open to cashing in on Conor Gallagher this summer despite just paying \u00a335m to sign him from Atletico Madrid in January.<\/p>\n

Now, Fichajes report that Coventry City have set their sights on the England international ahead of their return to the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Frank Lampard\u2019s men, who have secured the Championship title, are ready to spend nearly \u20ac200m (\u00a3173m) to strengthen their squad this summer in an effort to remain in the top-flight.<\/p>\n

One of the names at the top of their wishlist is Gallagher, who played under Lampard at Chelsea, with the English manager keen to make the Tottenham man the \u2018linchpin\u2019 of his side\u2019s midfield.<\/p>\n

It is alleged that Coventry are willing to offer around \u20ac45m (\u00a339m) to Spurs for the 25-year-old this summer.<\/p>\n

Why Roberto De Zerbi may be keen to hold onto Gallagher<\/h2>\n

The former Atletico Madrid star has started all three matches for Tottenham since Roberto De Zerbi walked through the door at Hotspur Way.<\/p>\n

In his first week at Tottenham, De Zerbi admitted that he loved watching Gallagher at Chelsea prior to the midfielder\u2019s switch to Spain in 2024.<\/p>\n

The Spurs boss suggested that he intends to play the 25-year-old in his best position to get the best out of him, and the midfielder\u2019s displays have been much improved under the Italian.<\/p>\n

It thus appears that De Zerbi is a fan of Gallagher, and one would expect the 46-year-old to want to keep the midfielder at the club if Tottenham remain in the Premier League.<\/p>\n
