He has undergone his medical.<\/p>\n<p><span itemscope=\"\" itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/Person\"><span itemprop=\"name\">Xabi Alonso<\/span><\/span>&#8216;s side are open to pursuing a new midfielder, but could also depend on their existing options next term.<\/p>\n<p>Lavia has had an injury-plagued career with the Blues and has made just 43 appearances for the west London giants.<\/p>\n<p>With Santos&#8217; exit, Lavia is now considered the immediate backup midfielder behind <span itemscope=\"\" itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/Person\"><span itemprop=\"name\">Moises Caicedo<\/span><\/span>  and <span itemscope=\"\" itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/Person\"><span itemprop=\"name\">Enzo Fernandez<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite his injury woes, the Blues&#8217; hierarchy believe he has immense potential and can make amends with his performances.<\/p>\n<p>Next season could be make-or-break for the Belgian, as the club are unlikely to remain patient with him much longer.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea recently confirmed the arrival of <span itemscope=\"\" itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/Person\"><span itemprop=\"name\">Geovany Quenda<\/span><\/span>  from Sporting CP.
