Chelsea officially unveiled Xabi Alonso as their new manager on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Alonso agreed a four-year deal to become Chelsea\u2019s new manager in May, replacing Liam Rosenior.<\/p>\n
Speaking for the first time since taking charge, Alonso highlighted his ambitions for the club.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat we share a feeling we are doing things the right way and that we are on the right path to success,\u201d he told Chelsea\u2019s official website.<\/p>\n

Chelsea have shown their readiness to back Alonso. They have given him the managerial title, suggesting they want him to have a greater say in decision-making.<\/p>\n
Alonso has already influenced the club\u2019s recruitment this summer.<\/p>\n
The Blues have completed the signing of Italy international Marco Palestra, with Alonso backing the move.<\/p>\n
Chelsea also pursued a move for Sunderland captain Granit Xhaka at the Spaniard\u2019s request, although the deal ultimately fell through.<\/p>\n
The club has previously come under huge scrutiny for limiting managers\u2019 influence over football decisions.<\/p>\n
