Chelsea have made their intentions with Jesse Derry unmistakably clear after agreeing to send the teenager to Sporting on loan. <\/strong><\/p>\n Portuguese newspaper To Ball<\/strong> reports the 19-year-old has completed a season-long move to the Portuguese club. This comes after he first signed a new Chelsea contract<\/strong> until 2032.<\/p>\n Crucially, the agreement contains no option for Sporting to buy the winger permanently, underlining the Blues\u2019 belief in his long-term future. And Chelsea will cover his full salary throughout the 2026\/27 season.<\/p>\n According to the report, Sporting will strengthen their squad without paying a transfer fee or taking on the player\u2019s salary. With those terms, Chelsea retain full control over one of their most highly-rated young attackers.<\/p>\n Derry had been on Sporting\u2019s radar for several months<\/strong> before the Portuguese club decided to press ahead with negotiations.<\/p>\n A Bola says Chelsea\u2019s strong institutional relationship with Sporting helped smooth discussions between the two clubs. It was strengthened by the recent transfers of Geovany Quenda and D\u00e1rio Essugo to Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n The Blues were unwilling to compromise on the most important part of the agreement, however. Despite Sporting\u2019s interest, Chelsea refused to include any purchase option. They preferred to monitor the winger\u2019s progress in a league they believe is well suited to accelerating his development.<\/p>\n Derry first committed his future to Chelsea by signing until 2032 before receiving the opportunity to play regular senior football elsewhere.<\/p>\n Although Derry arrives with considerable promise, A Bola reports he is initially expected to serve as Sporting\u2019s second-choice option on the left wing.
