A lot of Chelsea supporters have already written off Jamie Gittens after just one season at the club.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gittens joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund last year in an initial \u00a348m deal, but the winger had a debut campaign to forget.<\/p>\n

He struggled with injuries and only managed to play 16 games in the Premier League in the end.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the Blues are not giving up on Gittens, and they have reason not to. The former Dortmund star is still young and has a lot of talent.<\/p>\n

Chelsea fans saw his ability on a few occasions, mainly in a Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers.<\/p>\n

That night, Gittens scored one goal and provided two assists as Chelsea went on to win 4-3 and progress to the next round.<\/p>\n

Yes, it was only a League Cup match and Wolves were eventually relegated, showing how poor they were last term. But the goal that Gittens scored was easily one of the best from a Chelsea player during the 2025\/26 campaign.<\/p>\n

Again, the talent is clearly there. He was just not afforded the rhythm needed to show it consistently because of all his injuries.<\/p>\n

It has been reported that Chelsea are trying to sign Crysencio Summerville from West Ham United, and he may be needed once Alejandro Garnacho departs the club. But statistically, Gittens is a better dribbler.<\/p>\n

As per Scout Lab, Gittens completed 2.39 successful dribbles per 90 minutes last season, while Summerville completed 1.85.<\/p>\n

All in all, Gittens deserves at least another season at Chelsea. It is a bit of a different story with Garnacho, as he was not injured and had already played in the Premier League before moving to Stamford Bridge. <\/p>\n

Simply put, the Argentina international had opportunities. The same cannot be said about Gittens, but hopefully his situation improves in the new campaign.<\/p>\n
