It has been mentioned that the Blues are eyeing a move to bring the Portuguese goalie to Stamford Bridge this off-season.

Costa’s Impressive Form In Portuguese Football

Costa had a solid campaign at Porto as he put in a run of impressive displays for them in Liga Portugal. The 26-year-old conceded 27 goals and kept 26 clean sheets in 49 appearances for the Portuguese club last season in multiple competitions.

The Portuguese talent is currently among the most talented keepers in his homeland. Therefore, the Blues would do well to snap him up in this transfer window. However, he is still unproven at the highest level and would need time to settle into the Premier League.

His current contract at the Portuguese club will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it difficult for Chelsea to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.

MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA – JUNE 27: Diogo Costa #1 of Portugal reacts after the scoreless draw in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Group K match between Colombia and Portugal at Miami Stadium on June 27, 2026 in Miami Gardens, Florida. He is a solid handler of the ball and has got quick reflexes that helps him make a few important saves at the back for his team.

The Portuguese talent can use his commanding 1.88m frame to dominate his penalty area. Costa is a good passer of the ball as well. However, only time will tell whether he can adapt to the high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to sign him this off-season.

We can expect Costa to add more quality to Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso’s goalkeeping department. He is capable of challenging for a regular first-team spot at Stamford Bridge next season.

At 26, Costa has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Blues to consider in this transfer window. He would also help the West London club compete across all fronts in the coming years. Therefore, Alonso would be wise to try everything in his power to sign him before the end of this summer transfer period.

[4

post-16781","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-chelsea
["GET
