Chelsea are reportedly preparing an improved bid for Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria.<\/p>\n
A fresh proposal worth around \u20ac25 million including bonuses is expected to be submitted.<\/p>\n
The 27-year-old has already reached an agreement in principle over personal terms and is keen to complete a move to Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n
Chavarria has even agreed to reduce some of his financial demands in an effort to help the two clubs reach a compromise.<\/p>\n
Chelsea\u2019s opening offer, believed to have been worth less than \u20ac15m including add-ons, was rejected by Vallecano earlier in the transfer window.<\/p>\n
The Spanish club are reportedly holding out for a guaranteed fee closer to \u20ac25m, with club president Raul Martin Presa personally overseeing negotiations.<\/p>\n
Chavarria has emerged as a priority target for new manager Xabi Alonso, who values the Spaniard\u2019s versatility and tactical intelligence.<\/p>\n
Although naturally a left-back, Chavarria is capable of operating as a wing-back or in a back three, qualities that fit Alonso\u2019s preferred tactical approach.<\/p>\n
Chelsea have been active in the transfer market following Alonso\u2019s appointment.<\/p>\n
The Blues recently confirmed the arrival of highly rated Portuguese winger Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP, while further reinforcements are expected before the transfer window closes.<\/p>\n
Strengthening the left side of defence has become one of the club\u2019s priorities, particularly with Chelsea seeking greater competition and depth across the back line ahead of the new season.<\/p>\n
Chavarria joined Vallecano from Real Zaragoza in 2022 and has since established himself as one of the most consistent full-backs in La Liga.<\/p>\n
He was a regular starter last season, impressing with his work rate, defensive discipline and ability to contribute in possession.<\/p>\n
His performances attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, but Chelsea have moved quickest.<\/p>\n
