Manchester United have completed a \u00a350million deal for Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos. This comes as a huge boost for Michael Carrick’s side, with a deal for transfer target Ederson appearing to fall through.<\/p>\n
United agreed a deal to sign Santos from Chelsea last week as they ramp up plans to strengthen their midfield options during the summer transfer window, with a move for Youri Tielemans also imminent.<\/p>\n
Santos has put pen to paper on a long-term contract to become a United player, with the transfer being formally completed after the Brazilian underwent a medical in Manchester last week.<\/p>\n
The 22-year-old was not part of the Brazil squad for this summer\u2019s World Cup and will be expected to link up with Carrick\u2019s squad for the start of pre-season training.<\/p>\n

United have been keen to strengthen their midfield options this summer following the departure of Casemiro, who left the club at the end of last month following the expiration of his contract at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
Manuel Ugarte suffered a serious knee injury during the World Cup while featuring for Uruguay, meaning United will not have at least two midfielders available that they had at their disposal compared to last season.<\/p>\n
There also continues to be speculation about whether or not United will manage to get a deal over the line for Ederson from Atalanta.<\/p>\n

However, reports emerged last week claiming that a deal to bring Ederson to United had fallen through.<\/p>\n
The announcement of Santos\u2019 signing comes on the same day that news has emerged that Aston Villa star Tielemans has become a target for United.<\/p>\n
The Red Devils have reportedly made an effort to sign Tielemans, who has a \u00a335m release clause in his contract at Villa Park.<\/p>\n
The rumours of a potential deal for Tielemans comes amid speculation that a swoop for Ederson from Atalanta may no longer be on the table, with United determined to strengthen their midfield options before the start of the new Premier League season.<\/p>\n
