Manchester United have completed their first signing of the summer for a \u00a350million Premier League star.<\/p>\n
Michael Carrick needed to overhaul his midfield and the first step has been made with the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea. The 22-year-old Brazil international moves to Old Trafford for a guaranteed fee of \u00a348million plus \u00a32m in add-ons and a 10 per cent sell-on clause<\/p>\n
Santos joined Chelsea from Vasco da Gama in 2023 and spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest and Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg in Ligue 1. He played 43 times for the Blues last season, scoring three and registering four assists.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the club after signing, Santos said: \u201cEverything about Manchester United is special; it is an incredible feeling to join a club that some of my biggest idols have represented.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a midfielder, I am really excited to have the opportunity to learn from Michael Carrick, he is the perfect coach to help me take the next step in my career and push to achieve my dreams.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverybody told me about how ambitious the club is and the amazing environment that has been created here. I know just how strong the squad is and I cannot wait to fight together to compete for the biggest trophies.\u201d<\/p>\n

United’s director of football Jason Wilcox added: \u201cAndrey is an outstanding midfielder with excellent technical qualities and the ability to impact the game at both ends of the pitch.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was a key target for us in an important position, so we are delighted that he will join Michael\u2019s squad so early in pre-season.<\/p>\n
\u201cDespite already having extensive experience, leadership abilities and proving his talent at the highest level, Andrey still has enormous potential to develop further, and we cannot wait to see him flourish at Manchester United.\u201d<\/p>\n
United are also in advanced talks to sign Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans. The 29-year-old’s \u00a335million release clause in his contract has reportedly been triggered and the Belgian could undergo his medical next week.<\/p>\n
