So far this transfer window, Chelsea have signed Marco Palestra, Geovany Quenda and Emmanuel Emegha.<\/strong><\/p>\n

However, deals for Quenda and Emegha were already in place before Xabi Alonso\u2019s arrival. It means Palestra is the only addition the Spaniard has had a say on.<\/p>\n

Chelsea have had no success in landing any of Alonso\u2019s other targets at this stage.<\/p>\n

Chelsea letting Xabi Alonso down after Pep Chavarria and Granit Xhaka failures<\/h2>\n

According to Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, Alonso has put forward Pep Chavarria\u2019s name as the club look to replace Marc Cucurella, who has joined Real Madrid.<\/p>\n

However, one source has told Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that the Blues are struggling to agree on a transfer fee with Rayo Vallecano and the structure of a potential deal.<\/p>\n

If Chavarria is a player whom Alonso really wants, that is disappointing to hear. The left-back seems very attainable in this transfer window, but Chelsea are once again making things difficult for themselves.<\/p>\n

This comes after their failed pursuit of Sunderland\u2019s Granit Xhaka, another one of Alonso\u2019s targets.<\/p>\n

Of course, there is still plenty of time for Chelsea to strike a deal with Rayo. But as of now, this pursuit has been a failure, just as Xhaka\u2019s was.<\/p>\n

Alonso does not appear to be too disappointed at the moment. He was very positive during his first interview with the club\u2019s media channels.<\/p>\n

But after a season where Chelsea finished 10th and failed to qualify for the Champions League, he will be very aware that this squad needs strengthening. And so far, the club have not delivered.<\/p>\n

Again, there is time to correct that, and Chavarria is not exactly Kylian Mbappe. Chelsea\u2019s season is not going to ride on signing him or not.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, many will feel that the club have not backed Alonso enough yet in the transfer window. Cucurella\u2019s departure and Andrey Santos\u2019 move to Premier League rivals Manchester United have not helped matters either.<\/p>\n
