New Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso could be about to replace Alejandro Garnacho with Bologna\u2019s Jonathan Rowe.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Garnacho is edging closer to a move to AS Roma, with the 22-year-old not in Alonso\u2019s plans.<\/p>\n

The Chelsea Chronicle<\/strong> has been told that Chelsea are now considering Rowe as their left-wing signing this summer.<\/p>\n

So, how do the Bologna winger and Garnacho compare and what conclusion can Alonso draw from their 2025\/26 campaigns?<\/p>\n

Chelsea target Jonathan Rowe not a massive upgrade on Alejandro Garnacho<\/h2>\n

Rowe scored more league goals than Garnacho last season, although that was not a difficult task.<\/p>\n

In 24 Premier League appearances, Garnacho only managed to score one goal. Rowe scored a couple more, but he did play more minutes.<\/p>\n

Garnacho recorded four assists, which was two more than what Rowe managed. He did much better in that area, but these are not outstanding numbers.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, there is nothing to suggest that Rowe would be a huge upgrade on Garnacho if he joins Chelsea this summer.<\/p>\n

With that being said, his dribbling was much better. According to WhoScored, Rowe completed 1.8 dribbles per league game, while Garnacho only completed 0.6.<\/p>\n

The Chelsea Chronicle understands that Rowe is now a target for the Blues<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Rowe has potential and should develop into a much more effective wide man as he grows older. But Alonso needs signings who can make an impact right away.<\/p>\n

Chelsea finished in 10th place last term. Will bringing in young players who need time to develop really help them to move up the table? Probably not.<\/p>\n

The likes of Rafael Leao and Morgan Rogers would be more suitable options, but the former does not appear to be a priority for the Blues right now, while there are many barriers preventing a swoop for the latter.<\/p>\n

Chelsea are not giving up on Rogers, but his reported \u00a3130m price tag and Arsenal\u2019s interest really complicate things for the Blues. It makes Rowe a more likely signing, but he would not be a better one.<\/p>\n
