While they have been knocked out of the competition without him starting against Spain, Kone has come away with a glowing reputation.

Sport Witness have covered how Manchester United have been interested, especially after a deal for Ederson fell through. Gian Piero Gasperini has also indicated that Roma may not have a chance to keep him, depending how much clubs offer.

Now, Chelsea could be favourites to sign Kone.

Rome-London axis heating up

Today’s Corriere della Sera reports Roma and Chelsea have been holding discussions about Alejandro Garnacho. During those talks, the Giallorossi also learned the Blues’ decision on Diego Moreira, with Xabi Alonso’s side not keen on the Belgian.

This has opened Chelsea’s door for Kone.

The newspaper note that Enzo Fernandez could still be on his way out to Real Madrid.

This can lead to Chelsea moving for Kone. They were interested in him when Roma needed to make sales due to FFP obligations. Even if the deadline has passed, the Giallorossi could still earn a significant capital gain from his exit.

At least €50m is needed to start talks with Roma for Kone. It is believed Chelsea have held initial talks and things could soon intensify, with Manchester United yet to make a formal attempt.

Roma likely pushing narrative

For weeks, there’s been rumours but no offers. Despite that, the Italian press has constantly talked up Roma’s intentions of earning a capital gain from the player.

Chelsea are interested and selling Kone to them would be convenient for the Giallorossi. They would cash in on the player when the time is right and invest the money on attacking signings.

The Garnacho talks provided a way in, and Roma may look to work some kind of dual deal. That wouldn’t be a strict swap. They want the Kone money on their books, so it would be two separate transfers for similar fees.

[4

post-17644","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-chelsea
["GET
