Chelsea have reportedly ended their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain striker Rom\u00e9e Leuchter as they prioritise a move for Manchester United forward Melvine Malard.<\/strong><\/p>\n Dutch journalist Amber van Lieshout reports that Leuchter\u2019s proposed move to Stamford Bridge is now off, despite Chelsea previously making progress towards an agreement.<\/p>\n The Blues have instead chosen to focus on Malard, who is closing in on a move from Manchester United.<\/p>\n Chelsea have agreed a fee of around \u00a3850,000 for the France international, according to the BBC. The transfer would represent a club-record sale for United Women.<\/p>\n Malard is expected to undergo a medical before completing the move and reuniting with Sonia Bompastor in west London.<\/p>\n Leuchter emerged as a leading Chelsea target following an impressive season with PSG, but the club\u2019s position has changed during the final stages of negotiations.<\/p>\n The Netherlands international will no longer join unless talks are unexpectedly revived. Chelsea now appear confident that Malard offers the stronger option for Bompastor\u2019s rebuilt attack.<\/p>\n The 26-year-old previously worked with the Chelsea head coach at Lyon and has experience across the front line. She scored six Women\u2019s Super League goals and four times in the Champions League for United last season.<\/p>\n As Read Chelsea reported earlier this week, Malard had become a key target after deciding not to extend her Manchester United contract.<\/p>\n Her arrival would add another proven WSL attacker following Sam Kerr\u2019s departure and Aggie Beever-Jones\u2019 new contract.<\/p>\n Chelsea have already strengthened their attack with Manaka Matsukubo this summer.
