Chelsea have been hit by a fan backlash after sharing a photo of Enzo Fernandez celebrating his equalising goal as Argentina came from behind to beat England in the World Cup semi-final.<\/p>\n
England had taken the lead in a tetchy match in Atlanta, with Anthony Gordon’s opener putting the Three Lions on course to reach the World Cup final.<\/p>\n
Fernandez, who had attempted several efforts from the edge of the box during the match, ultimately struck back for reigning world champions.<\/p>\n
The midfielder found himself in space on the edge of the England box and drove a fierce effort beyond Jordan Pickford into the net with five minutes remaining.<\/p>\n
The turnaround was completed in stoppage time when Lautaro Martinez headed in a Lionel Messi cross as Argentina went 2-1 ahead and inflict more heartbreak on England.<\/p>\n

The Premier League side received an instant backlash from England supporters over the post.<\/p>\n
‘Seriously. We\u2019re an English football club. Poor from my club. Poor,’ one fan wrote.<\/p>\n
‘Why the f*** are you posting this as an English club when he scored against England,’ another said.<\/p>\n
‘The absolute cheek of an English football club to tweet this. Grim,’ a third said.<\/p>\n
‘Once again just proving how very out of touch you lot are these days\u2026.. Sure your club captain will enjoy seeing this post,’ wrote another.<\/p>\n
One fan referenced how Fernandez has flirted with a move away from Chelsea in their criticism of the club’s post.<\/p>\n
‘Read the room, disgusting. Especially when that player would spit at us at any opportunity,’ the fan wrote.<\/p>\n
Chelsea, following a wave of comments from furious supporters, ultimately deleted the post.<\/p>\n

Fernandez’s club future has been the subject of speculation, after he revealed his desire to live in Spain one day, amid links to Real Madrid.<\/p>\n
The midfielder’s comments led to him being given an internal two match ban from Chelsea back in April.<\/p>\n
New Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso stated this week that he wants the vice-captain to remain at the club next season.<\/p>\n
