Chelsea duo Enzo Fernandez and Reece James were enemies for 90 minutes as England and Argentina played out a fiery World Cup semi-final tie.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the end, Fernandez was able to get the better of James and his England teammates as Argentina went on to win the match 2-1.<\/p>\n

England took the lead through Anthony Gordon 10 minutes after the restart, but Fernandez managed to score a terrific equaliser in the 85th minute before Lautaro Martinez headed home the winner in stoppage time.<\/p>\n

While it was quite a nasty affair at times and things boiled over after the full-time whistle, Fernandez and James remembered their club connection.<\/p>\n

The Chelsea duo were seen embracing after the game in scenes that Blues supporters will hope to see next season.<\/p>\n

Right now, there is no guarantee that Fernandez will remain at Chelsea. Fernandez is seeking a new challenge, though he does not have too many suitors right now following Real Madrid\u2019s decision to end interest in him.<\/p>\n

However, after his performance against England at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, perhaps they will decide to revisit a potential deal. <\/p>\n

Enzo Fernandez and Reece James could be key for Chelsea next season<\/h2>\n

If Fernandez does remain at Chelsea and James remains fit, they are going to be two of Chelsea\u2019s most important players.<\/p>\n

Fernandez is one of the best midfielders in the world and proved that on Wednesday as he showed up Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson, who are also \u00a3100m midfielders.<\/p>\n

James also performed quite well in the World Cup semi-final and is among the top full-backs in the world.<\/p>\n

If Xabi Alonso gets 30+ games out of each of them next season, Chelsea should have a successful campaign. But right now, that is a very big if.<\/p>\n

A bit of work also needs to be done in the transfer market in order for the team to move up the table.<\/p>\n
