Chelsea have already been very active in this summer’s transfer window and don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.<\/p>\n

The Blues have already agreed several deals \u2014 in and out \u2014 including selling Andrey Santos to Manchester United for \u00a350 million.<\/p>\n

And pundit Andy Townsend believes the two clubs should do business again but this time it would see a Manchester United player move the other way.<\/p>\n

Marcus Rashford has endured a strange period in his career. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The 2022-23 season saw him record his best-ever goalscoring campaign (30), but he has failed to get anywhere near those numbers since.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Former manager Ruben Amorim allowed the 28-year-old to join Barcelona on loan last season, but despite doing well, the Catalan giants opted to invest in Anthony Gordon instead of activating Rashford’s \u00a335 million buy clause.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And Townsend believes Chelsea should capitalise on the uncertainty considering the England international is a significant upgrade on the departing Alejandro Garnacho.<\/p>\n

“I think Marcus Rashford improves Chelsea\u2019s squad, he is an improvement on Alejandro Garnacho, that\u2019s for sure,”<\/strong><\/em> Townsend told CasinoHawks (via Metro).<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “The number we were talking about was \u00a335 million. I\u2019m very surprised that no one has come to get him for that money, even if he\u2019s 28.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Wide strikers are asked to produce a lot of output nowadays, and there aren\u2019t many operating in the top flight at thirty-two or thirty-three. So these next couple of years for Marcus are big. It has to be the right move. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “He\u2019s on massive wages, which is an issue for any club, but you\u2019d think he could get that to a level everyone finds acceptable. A club like Chelsea might suit him.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “I could see that. I like Pedro Neto, but he sometimes flatters to deceive. Garnacho is far too inconsistent, like Jadon Sancho, those sorts of players are difficult to accommodate.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Rashford showed at Barcelona that he can play at a big club, he understands that mentality.”<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Rashford has just two years left on his contract at Old Trafford but remains the Red Devils’ highest paid player on \u00a3375,000-per week, and Townsend rightfully understands how big of a problem that is.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “At \u00a335 million, I\u2019d be surprised if a deal doesn\u2019t get done, depending on his salary demands. If he wants to stick on \u00a3300,000-a-week, then he\u2019s going to have a problem,” <\/strong><\/em>Townsend added.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “But there\u2019s no point in going back to Manchester United and not playing at his age. That doesn\u2019t send a great image to potential suitors if he\u2019s happy to just sit on the bench.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Marcus and his team should be working around the clock to find the right environment for him at the right level, wage-wise. You want to play.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “At nearly 29, he\u2019s in his peak, and he needs to be out there more often than not.”<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Since being promoted to United’s first team in 2016, Rashford has scored 138 goals in 426 matches in all competitions.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Follow<\/span>Wages could be a problem<\/h2>\n
