It came as no surprise to see the familiar face of Jarrod Bowen plastered over West Ham United\u2019s first official team sheet of the 2026\/27 season; a pre-season friendly away at Southend.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Captain marvel Bowen committed his future to the Hammers on Friday. He starts 24 hours later at Roots Hall.<\/p>\n

We\u2019d recommend any East London-based sculptures get their CVs ready. Because, if Jarrod Bowen skippers West Ham United to the Championship title, there will be a lot of demand for a bronze-carved likeness a man who has just cemented his place forevermore in claret and blue folklore.<\/p>\n

It is safe to say some of those missing from Nuno Espirito Santo\u2019s team sheet in Essex will not be remembered quite so fondly. <\/p>\n

It did not go unnoticed that Niclas Fullkrug, Jean-Clair Todibo and Maxwel Cornet are nowhere to be seen even in a 24-man squad.<\/p>\n

West Ham United head to Southend without Niclas Fullkrug and co<\/h2>\n

Fullkrug and Cornet both scored as West Ham beat Colchester United 3-2 at Rush Green in a behind-closed-doors clash earlier this week. Neither the German nor the Ivorian are involved here, though, as the Hammers look to remove the high-earning \u00a344 million duo from their wage bill.<\/p>\n

Jean-Clair Todibo reportedly left Nuno in no doubt about his desire to leave the London Stadium, meanwhile, telling the Hammers boss that he has no interest in playing Championship football. <\/p>\n

Todibo\u2019s conduct was described as \u2018disgraceful\u2019 after he stormed down the tunnel at Newcastle before allegedly refusing to play in the 3-0 final day victory over Leeds. The Frenchman is destined to leave under a cloud of his own conjuring.<\/p>\n

\u201cHas Fulkrug damaged his toenail again,\u201d one of Hammers News\u2019 Talking Point <\/strong>users quipped after news of the striker\u2019s absence filtered through. <\/p>\n

\u201cFullkrug, Cornet, Todibo (all missing),\u201d another fan says on social media. \u201cNow, there\u2019s a message as to whether they are staying\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFullkrug is as good as gone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a shame that Todibo turned out like that, but whatever. Mr. Axel Disasi, we\u2019re waiting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Soungoutou Magassa building up his fitness as James Ward-Prowse features<\/h2>\n

Speaking of Disasi, he was spotted training alongside fellow Frenchman Soungoutou Magassa this week.<\/p>\n

Magassa\u2019s absence from the trip to Southend is fitness related, in stark contrast to that of Fullkrug, Cornet and Todibo. <\/p>\n

West Ham believe the midfielder signed from Monaco can still develop into a useful member of the squad. The Hammers have not given up on re-signing Disasi either, reportedly agreeing the broad outline of a \u00a325 million deal with Chelsea.<\/p>\n

\u201cMagassa injured. The others can leave,\u201d one fan adds.<\/p>\n

\u201cMagassa is still recovering. Not (bothered) about the others.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among those who are <\/em>involved, however, is James Ward-Prowse. Yet, West Ham are still keen to move on a midfielder who was immediately sidelined by Nuno and spent the second half of last season on loan at Burnley.<\/p>\n

With the departures of Fullkrug, Todibo and Ward-Prowse expected, a trip to fifth-tier Southend provides an opportunity for the likes of Josh Ajala, Ezra Mayers, Mohamadou Kante and George Earthy to make a positive impression.<\/p>\n
