Morgan Rogers is set to become the most expensive English player in history ahead of his \u00a3117m move to Chelsea, and he will be relieved he no longer has to come up against Moises Caicedo.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It emerged on Saturday that Rogers is set to join Chelsea for \u00a3117m. The Aston Villa star has opted for Stamford Bridge over Premier League champions Arsenal, after speaking to Xabi Alonso on the phone.<\/p>\n

Behdad Eghbali is also said to have handled negotiations with Aston Villa personally. Rogers will become the second signing made by Chelsea since Alonso was confirmed as the club\u2019s new man in charge.<\/p>\n

Rogers then started and finished England\u2019s incredible 6-4 win over France in Miami. On Monday, he will do his medical, and it is not expected to take long for the England star to be named a new Chelsea player.<\/p>\n

Rogers once admitted he couldn\u2019t get past Caicedo<\/h2>\n

It sees Rogers become Cole Palmer\u2019s teammate once again. The duo are renowned for being best friends after their time together in Man City\u2019s academy, and even share the same celebration; teammates again.<\/p>\n

But it is another Chelsea player that will have Rogers feeling relieved that he no longer has to face. Back in 2025, Rogers admitted he could not find his way past Chelsea star Moises Caicedo while playing for Villa.<\/p>\n

Rogers told Sky Sports: \u201cI didn\u2019t play against him (Caicedo) much this year (2024-25) because of positions we played. Last year, played him at home, he\u2019s quick, strong. I\u2019ll be honest, I couldn\u2019t get past him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Where does Rogers rank in terms of the world\u2019s biggest deals<\/h2>\n

Rogers will become Chelsea\u2019s record signing at \u00a3117m. It comes after the club have raked in initial fees of \u00a347.5m from Marc Cucurella\u2019s sale, \u00a348m from Andrey Santos and \u00a318m from Tyrique George\u2019s deal.<\/p>\n

That pretty much covers the Rogers fee, which is set to be paid up front without add-ons. But where does it stand on the world stage? Currently, Neymar remains the most expensive deal, joining PSG for \u00a3200m.<\/p>\n

Kylian Mbappe left PSG for Real Madrid for a little over \u00a3165m, and Alexander Isak joined Liverpool for a fee of \u00a3125m. Elliot Anderson has bounced into fourth this summer, costing Manchester City \u00a3116m.<\/p>\n

If Rogers\u2019 deal does go ahead as expected, he will become the fourth-most expensive transfer in history, costing Chelsea just \u00a31m more than City paid for Anderson. Joao Felix joined Atletico Madrid for \u00a3113m.<\/p>\n
