When Chelsea announce the signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, they will be confirming the fourth-most-expensive transfer in the history of football. But Tottenham make it look like a bargain.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chelsea have agreed a \u00a3117m deal to sign England star Rogers from Villa. It is a deal seen as a major coup by Chelsea fans, given the Blues failed to secure European football at the end of the 25-26 season.<\/p>\n

Also, because Mikel Arteta\u2019s Premier League champions Arsenal were in talks for Rogers. But according to reports, Xabi Alonso managed to convince Rogers of a move to Chelsea instead of Arsenal this summer.<\/p>\n

Rogers will undergo a medical on Monday before signing a six-year deal with the option of extending that contract until 2033. Of course, \u00a3117m is a lot of money, but in the current market, it\u2019s a bargain.<\/p>\n

If Sandro Tonali is worth \u00a3100m, Rogers is easily worth \u00a3117m<\/h2>\n

Only Neymar, Alexander Isak and Kylian Mbappe have cost more than Rogers\u2019 fee. But this summer has already seen some Premier League clubs pay some wild transfer fees, and Tottenham are right up there.<\/p>\n

If \u00a352m for Jan Paul van Hecke was not deemed overpriced, \u00a385m for Mateus Fernandes certainly is. No doubt good players and proven at Premier League level, but for a combined \u00a3137m? Very expensive.<\/p>\n

Then there is Sandro Tonali. Arguably one of the best central midfielders outside of the top two, Tonali has really made a name for himself at Newcastle. An Italy international, an exquisite passer of the ball.<\/p>\n

But no one will have deemed Tonali a \u00a3100m player. When Newcastle told Spurs he would cost a nine-figure fee, they will have surely done so without expecting a reply from Roberto De Zerbi\u2019s new side.<\/p>\n

Yet, Spurs have blown their transfer record to land Tonali. If he is a \u00a3100m player, then Rogers is easily worth the enormous outlay Chelsea are set to spend on him. Not least, because attackers cost more.<\/p>\n

It is the hardest thing in football to create and score goals, and yet, in the Premier League, not many no.10\u2019s do it as often or as effortlessly as Rogers. This is one of the Premier League\u2019s very best attackers.<\/p>\n

Chelsea have already earned Morgan Rogers\u2019 price tag<\/h2>\n

Another reason why Chelsea have given the green light to spend such a fortune is because of player sales. So far, Chelsea have rubber-stamped the sales of four players, with Marc Cucurella\u2019s exit the biggest.<\/p>\n

Chelsea will receive an initial \u00a347.5m from Madrid for Cucurella, rising to \u00a351.8m. Andrey Santos\u2019 move to Man United cost Michael Carrick\u2019s men \u00a348m, with \u00a32m more in add-ons. Tyrique George joined Everton.<\/p>\n

A \u00a324m deal, with \u00a318m received by Chelsea up front while West Brom paid \u00a34m to sign Jimmy-Jay Morgan after an impressive loan at Peterborough. A total of \u00a3117.5m paid to Chelsea in initial fees.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s even before considering Man City have paid Chelsea \u00a317m in compensation for Enzo Maresca. From player sales alone this summer, Chelsea have already earned what they will spend on Rogers.<\/p>\n

Of course, Chelsea have also paid Atalanta a \u00a347m fee for Marco Palestra, but the fact remains that Chelsea have raked in a huge amount of cash and will continue to do so with more player sales likely.<\/p>\n

BlueCo\u2019s model may earn criticism, but it looks as if Chelsea will earn another \u00a3300m from player sales this summer as they did the last. Rogers\u2019 fee might be huge, but Chelsea have covered it already.<\/p>\n
