Barcelona have already identified Chelsea’s Jo\u00e3o Pedro as the main alternative to Atl\u00e9tico Madrid star Juli\u00e1n Alvarez.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two months ago, Barca sporting director Deco made a trip to England to negotiate for the striker.<\/p>\n

At that time, the Catalan media were confident the Chelsea star\u2019s price will be below \u20ac70m, after Carlo Ancelotti left him out of Brazil\u2019s World Cup squad.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the La Liga winners have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Alvarez. Atl\u00e9tico have ruled out allowing the Argentina international to leave even though he has publicly asked for that.<\/p>\n

Barcelona looking at Chelsea man<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Juli\u00e1n Alvarez situation has seen the Catalan club shift their focus on Jo\u00e3o Pedro.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s according to Sunday\u2019s edition of Sport, who covers Barcelona\u2019s interest and the Blues\u2019 stance.<\/p>\n

Deco likes the Brazilian, who joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in June 2025. He finished his debut season at Stamford Bridge with 20 goals and nine assists from 50 matches.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old operates in multiple positions, which makes him more attractive for Hansi Flick\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

Chelsea take firm stance <\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Blues appreciate and have high hopes on the South American, both now and for the future. There\u2019s firm belief within the club he has to be the cornerstone of their project.<\/p>\n

Xabi Alonso also shares the same view as the Premier League side and considers Jo\u00e3o Pedro as \u2018untouchable\u2019, meaning non-transferable. This is mainly because of his technical qualities, versatility and ability to adapt to different systems.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the west London club are now standing firm and are refusing to negotiate or even listen to any offers for Pedro.<\/p>\n
