NEW<\/span>You can now listen to Fox News articles!\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Comedian and HBO host Bill Maher said Sunday that he could vote for Vice President JD Vance in the 2028 presidential election if Democrats nominate a candidate aligned with the party’s socialist wing, calling Democrats “cowardly” and warning that radicals are taking over the party.<\/p>\n “Yes,” Maher said when asked by ABC News “This Week” co-anchor Jonathan Karl if Maher could see himself voting for Vance. “If this is the Democratic side, yes.”<\/p>\n Bill Maher defended his recent interview with Vice President JD Vance after critics accused the comedian of not being aggressive enough on the Republican.<\/span> (Cindy Ord\/VF25\/Getty Images for Vanity Fair; Nathan Howard-Pool\/Getty Images)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n VANCE CONFRONTED ABOUT 2028 AMBITIONS AFTER TRUMP TEASES ‘DREAM TEAM’ RUBIO TICKET<\/strong><\/p>\n Maher said his vote remained open because President Donald Trump cannot run again and rejected efforts to distinguish socialism from communism while discussing the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).<\/p>\n “My vote is in play because it can\u2019t be Trump running, so I\u2019m not living in communist America,” Maher said.<\/p>\n “I mean, I know the talking point is that it\u2019s not communism, it\u2019s socialism. OK, I\u2019ve read the quotes from the DSA platform from their own mouths. What… it\u2019s just odd, isn\u2019t it? Why is that? So what is that all about?” Maher said. “Democrats are cowardly. They\u2019re cowardly.”<\/p>\n The HBO host warned that the Democratic Party was being overtaken by increasingly radical figures, recalling the criticism he received after refusing to embrace left-wing positions.<\/p>\n “Their party is being taken over now by, you know, every day I hear about a new very radical,” Maher said.<\/p>\n “I feel very good about (it). You know, when we\u2019re cheering for the Intifada, I cut, I\u2019m out,” he said.<\/p>\n He also predicted Democrats would perform well in the 2026 midterms because the races would remain a referendum on Trump. No prisons, no police.
