Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez started his second World Cup final for Argentina as they took on European champions Spain.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fernandez and Argentina beat France in the 2022 final, but they fell to defeat to Spain this time around, largely because of the Chelsea midfielder\u2019s red card.<\/p>\n

Fernandez played well in the semi-final against England, equalising for La\u00a0Albiceleste before Lautaro Martinez\u2019s winner in stoppage time. But he was the villain at the MetLife Stadium after receiving a reckless second yellow card and getting sent off.<\/p>\n

While Fernandez tried to protest the referee\u2019s decision, he eventually acknowledged his mistake and gestured to the Argentina supporters that he was sorry.<\/p>\n

Before his dismissal, the 25-year-old put in quite the shift, especially considering how much of the ball Spain had.<\/p>\n

According to Sofascore, he recorded five defensive contributions. Breaking that down, the Argentine made two tackles, two interceptions, one clearance and blocked one shot.<\/p>\n

Fernandez also won three out of nine ground duels and one out of two aerial duels. In terms of what the Argentina international did on the ball, he completed 32 out of 36 passes, giving him a pass success rate of 89%.<\/p>\n

What Enzo Fernandez is likely to do now World Cup is over<\/h2>\n

Fernandez has been concentrating on the World Cup, but with the tournament now finished, the former Benfica man and his agent can turn their attention to a transfer.<\/p>\n

Fernandez is keen on a switch away from Chelsea, though there is not too much interest in him at the moment.<\/p>\n

Real Madrid announced that they would not be signing Fernandez this summer, cooling their interest in the ex-River Plate star.<\/p>\n

There is still plenty of time for Real Madrid to change their stance, but unless Chelsea drop their asking price, that looks unlikely to happen.<\/p>\n

Chelsea are thought to want \u00a3120m for Fernandez, which seems more than reasonable in a market where other midfielders are going for around the same price.<\/p>\n

Manchester City have paid \u00a3116m for Elliot Anderson, while Tottenham Hotspur have signed Sandro Tonali for \u00a3100m.<\/p>\n
