Manchester United may have to wait for a cash injection from a transfer for Alejandro Garnacho this summer. The former United man looks set to leave Chelsea, with Aston Villa reportedly making an official offer.<\/p>\n
The winger left United last summer, completing a \u00a340 million move to Stamford Bridge. United also included a 10 per cent sell-on clause<\/u> in the deal. But he has struggled to make an impact with the Blues.<\/p>\n
Last season, he made 24 Premier League appearances, scoring once and providing four assists. He missed out on a place in the Argentina squad for this summer\u2019s World Cup. Fabrizio Romano reports that Unai Emery\u2019s side have sent an offer to Chelsea that will see him sign on an initial loan with a buy clause included.<\/p>\n
Talks are also said to be ongoing between Villa and the player over personal terms. It\u2019s not reported what the buy clause offered is, but it has previously been reported that Chelsea have set an asking price of \u00a342 million.<\/p>\n
If Villa’s offer is accepted by Chelsea and Garnacho agrees to the move, it would be a blow to United this summer. The initial loan deal means that the club won\u2019t get any money from the sell-on clause included in the agreement with Chelsea last year.<\/p>\n

If the price is anywhere near Chelsea\u2019s asking price, it means that United will have around \u00a34.2 million less than they may have thought they would have this summer. The Athletic reports that the clause will be a conditional obligation to buy, but United could again miss out next summer if the conditions aren’t met and Villa decide against making the move permanent.<\/p>\n
Any extra money received from a deal for Garnacho will also be a boost in terms of the Premier League\u2019s Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR). As Garnacho is classed as an academy graduate at United, any money brought in would go down as pure profit.<\/p>\n

The club included a 40 per cent clause in the deal that saw Mason Greenwood move to Marseille in 2024.<\/p>\n
The United academy product moved from the French club to Fenerbahce earlier this month for a fee of around \u00a333.2 million, meaning that United received around \u00a313.3 million from the transfer<\/u>. However, some of that will reportedly go to Getafe<\/u> as part of the loan deal signed with the Spanish club in 2023.<\/p>\n\n
