Morgan Rogers was officially unveiled as a new Chelsea player on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old became Britain’s most expensive-ever player after the Blues agreed a deal worth a whopping \u00a3117 million with Aston Villa.<\/p>\n

Now at Chelsea, Rogers will reunite with one of best friends: Cole Palmer. And that’s an exciting prospect for any Blue who will be eager to see how quickly they can gel again.<\/p>\n

It’s a shame they weren’t able to represent England at the World Cup together after Palmer was excluded from Thomas Tuchel’s final 26-man squad.<\/p>\n

The pair came through Manchester City’s youth academy and have also represented England at youth level together. They’re best known for sharing their trademark ‘chilly’ celebrations.<\/p>\n

“I’ve known Cole since I was about 14, first in the England (youth) teams and then when we were both at Man City together,”<\/strong><\/em> he told Chelsea’s official website.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “We’ve been speaking about this for a while; we always would love to have played together. So, for it to happen, we\u2019re both excited. <\/p>\n “He\u2019s non-stop ringing my phone, texting me, and I can\u2019t wait. I think that\u2019s probably the most special thing, playing with one of your best friends and being around him every day. It\u2019s something I\u2019m really excited about.”<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n During their time at City and with England’s youth teams, Rogers and Palmer have played together a total of 29 times, being directly involved in two goals.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Whenever the two of them have lined up together, their side has averaged over 2 points per match; an intriguing partnership now they’ve both developed into even better players.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Both Rogers and Palmer are incredibly versatile attacking midfielders. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n They can both operate pretty much anywhere across the front line, and that gives Xabi Alonso great flexibility.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Chelsea’s new \u00a3117 million signing has been promised he’ll mostly play on the left-wing, likely at the expense of the outbound Alejandro Garnacho, with Palmer set to move more centrally into the No.10 role. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Interestingly, it wouldn’t be surprising if the pair combined to create two No.10’s in a narrow setup that could include racing wing-backs.
