Chelsea fans have been left shocked by the club’s reported interest in signing Brighton & Hove Albion star Danny Welbeck. <\/p>\n
The 35-year-old forward has been a regular feature in the Premier League for the past decade and a half. A graduate of Manchester United’s academy, he has since gone on to play for Arsenal, Watford, Sunderland and the Seagulls in the English top flight.<\/p>\n

Chelsea, who have had a transfer policy centred around young talent over the past few seasons, have somewhat strangely expressed an interest in signing the English veteran (via @kierangill_DM on X).<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/template><\/p>\n The decision left Blues fans stunned and they took to social media to express their feelings. In response to the original tweet that broke the news, one fan wrote:<\/p>\n “This doesn’t make sense. Clearly this account has been hacked.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n A supporter referenced the numerous players that the London side have signed Brighton in the recent past (Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, Robert Sanchez, Joao Pedro and so on), claiming:<\/p>\n “NOT Brighton again!! I thought we was past this.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n A fan queried:<\/p>\n “Wtf we need that man for? Not coming out of retirement experience.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n If Chelsea do sign Welbeck, he will compete with Nicolas Jackson, Joao Pedro, Marc Guiu, David Datro Fofana and Emmanuel Emegha among others at the striker position.<\/p>\n Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso has outlined his plans for his debut Premier League campaign at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n The Spaniard was sacked by Real Madrid in January after a tumultous seven-month spell at the Santiago Bernabeu.
