Chelsea are reportedly ready to lodge a fresh offer for Bournemouth star Alex Scott after seeing their opening bid of \u20ac75 million rejected.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old was one of the Premier League\u2019s standout midfielders last season, as Bournemouth achieved their best-ever top-flight finish, and he has rejected a contract extension offer amid significant transfer interest from a number of top clubs.<\/p>\n

Arsenal and Manchester United are both known admirers of the Englishman, but Chelsea are currently the frontrunners to sign him and they have already seen a first offer worth \u20ac75m turned down by Bournemouth.<\/p>\n

Scott is viewed as a key midfield target by the Chelsea hierarchy, following the sale of Andrey Santos to Manchester United, and they are expected to ramp up their pursuit of his signature once they finalise the arrival of Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix.<\/p>\n

Bournemouth are determined to keep Scott until at least next summer, but their resolve is set to be further tested as Chelsea are now considering a second bid, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Scott scored four goals in 39 appearances across all competitions for Bournemouth last season, and his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at a career-high of \u20ac41.9m.<\/p>\n

Analysis: Would Alex Scott be a good signing for Chelsea?<\/h2>\n

Chelsea\u2019s interest in Scott comes as little surprise given his form for Bournemouth last year and the aforementioned sale of Santos to Man Utd, but his price tag is a major issue.<\/p>\n

However, the England midfielder is a proven Premier League performer and his skillset looks ideally suited to playing alongside Moises Caicedo in a double pivot at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Chelsea need to bolster their midfield ranks following the departure of Santos and Scott is one of the best options out there, especially considering reports indicate that he wants to complete a move to the west London giants this summer.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old is extremely composed in possession, excels at progressing play and doesn\u2019t shirk his defensive responsibilities either. Although Enzo Fernandez is potentially set to stay at Chelsea this summer, another option is required and Scott could be the perfect signing for Xabi Alonso, despite his enormous price tag of a reported \u20ac80m.<\/p>\n
