Bournemouth immediately rejected the original \u00a364million package and continue to insist the midfielder is not available. Plettenberg\u2019s update does not suggest that a second bid has formally been submitted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chelsea therefore need to decide how far they are prepared to move towards Bournemouth\u2019s demands. The Cherries qualified for Europe last season and have little financial pressure to approve another major departure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scott\u2019s contract situation offers Chelsea some encouragement. The midfielder has rejected fresh terms, although Bournemouth still hold a strong negotiating position and can retain him beyond this summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The England midfielder would provide Alonso with another progressive number eight.
