The fullback lost prominence at Madrid this year, while the Blues have appointed the Spaniard as their new manager.

Earlier this month, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that the La Liga side had rejected a €25m bid from Chelsea.

Carreras could go to Chelsea

The Premier League club sold Marc Cucurella to José Mourinho’s side in June, and his exit has left a void.

His arrival at Real Madrid will push Álvaro Carreras down the pecking order. Therefore, the former Manchester United man could still leave this summer, a year after his arrival.

Chelsea are an option mainly because of their manager. The newspaper says Xabi Alonso has already expressed interest and has repeatedly asked about his former player.

Carreras can replace Cucurella at Stamford Bridge and also feature regularly, which he may not enjoy at Real Madrid.

His sale to Chelsea will see Mourinho’s side recover a large part of their investment made to sign the World Cup winner. It would be a ‘win-win’ for all parties.

Advances in next few weeks?

Mundo claims the coming weeks will be crucial to determine whether Álvaro Carreras will end up at Chelsea.

The defender has a contract until 2030, and Transfermarkt value him at €50m. There’s no mention of whether he is open to leaving Real Madrid in this window.

He would have to decide on his future if José Mourinho were to not include him in his core plans next season. Even if the manager includes him, Carreras is likely to be behind Marc Cucurella.

Chelsea target Álvaro Carreras Chelsea are still chasing Real Madrid’s Álvaro Carreras and a summer…

[4

post-22316","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-chelsea
["GET
