Levi Colwill has not played a game all season because of an ACL injury, but the defender is closing in on a return to action.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Colwill recently started in a Chelsea Under-21 match and played the full game as the Blues beat Middlesbrough 1-0.<\/p>\n

Anyone hoping to see him feature in next Monday\u2019s Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest is likely to be left feeling disappointed, though.<\/p>\n

Chelsea plan to take their time with Levi Colwill<\/h2>\n

According to The Sun, Colwill is hoping to make an appearance with the first team before the season ends.<\/p>\n

Chelsea have an FA Cup final against Manchester City to play and are battling it out with several teams for a European spot.<\/p>\n

Colwill will want to be a part of that, but The Sun\u2019s report says there is an expectation that Chelsea will take their time with Colwill.<\/p>\n

It means that in the meantime, Calum McFarlane will have to continue using the likes of Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo.<\/p>\n

Adarabioyo has received a lot of criticism from Chelsea supporters this season, but he was excellent for the Club World Cup winners in their 1-0 FA Cup semi-final win against Leeds United last weekend.<\/p>\n

Adarabioyo repaid the faith shown in him by McFarlane, who brought the 28-year-old in to combat Leeds\u2019 aerial threat.<\/p>\n

No need for Chelsea to take any risks with Levi Colwill<\/h2>\n

Chelsea may be in the FA Cup final, but winning that trophy was never the priority. The aim was to qualify for the Champions League and finish closer to the top two.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, with this season becoming a bit of a write-off, it would be silly to risk Colwill. The club should do everything it can to get the England international fit and ready for the 2026\/27 campaign.<\/p>\n

It will be a fresh start for Chelsea, who will be hoping to have a much better season with Colwill in the side. Who will be in charge remains to be seen.<\/p>\n
