Anna Faris is now sober after personally discovering a correlation between “drinking and depression.”<\/p>\n

During an appearance on the “Dear Chelsea” podcast, Faris told host Chelsea Handler that in the past year, she began to feel “ungracious” about her comedy career and movie roles.<\/p>\n

“I really started to notice and appreciate if and when people recognize me, they would usually smile \u2026 thinking about something f—ing stupid I did onscreen,” Faris said, which prompted Handler to bring up her sobriety.<\/p>\n

“Do you think that has to do with not drinking? Because I know you stopped drinking. Maybe that lit that a little bit,” Handler said.<\/p>\n

Faris confirmed that she “stopped drinking” and said “one of the many gifts” she’s gained since becoming sober is shifting her perspective.<\/p>\n

“Turns out there\u2019s a correlation between drinking and depression for me for sure. I had to take a step back to not self-sabotage,” Faris said.<\/p>\n

Along with quitting alcohol, Faris said hormone patches were a game changer for her mental health. She did not share additional details on her sobriety journey.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere on the podcast, Faris shared that her 14-year-old son Jack asked her to “accept Jesus Christ” as her savior.<\/p>\n

“He is religious. I didn\u2019t grow up with religion. He\u2019s asked me to accept Jesus Christ [as my savior]. And I told him I would do anything for him, including this, but it\u2019s going to take a whole lot of long conversations,” Faris said.<\/p>\n

Faris shares Jack with her ex-husband, Chris Pratt. The former couple welcomed Jack in August 2012, and he was born nine weeks premature.<\/p>\n

The “Scary Movie” actress explained that her son is strong, which allows them to have deeper conversations.<\/p>\n

“He\u2019s impressive, actually. Because I try to challenge him. I\u2019m like, \u2018Do you think it\u2019s a luxury that you get to be pro-life? Do you think that\u2019s kind of a luxury?\u2019 And he\u2019s like, \u2018Maybe.\u2019 Or I\u2019ll say, \u2018What do you think of this megapastor that\u2019s kind of a grifter?\u2019 And he\u2019s like, \u2018Oh, megapastors are the worst.\u2019 So it\u2019s like, \u2018OK, he\u2019s getting there,'” Faris said.<\/p>\n
