A former Missouri television news anchor has admitted to fatally stabbing her mother on Halloween last year after apparently believing she was the devil, authorities said last week.<\/p>\n

Angelynn “Angie” Mock, 48, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder in connection with the slaying of her mother, 80-year-old Anita Avers, on Oct. 31, 2025, the Sedgwick County District Attorney\u2019s Office announced Friday.<\/p>\n

Under the terms of the plea, Mock faces life in prison with eligibility for parole after 25 years.<\/p>\n

Former St. Louis television news anchor Angelynn “Angie” Mock has been charged with first-degree murder following the fatal stabbing of her mother in Wichita, Kansas.<\/span> (Angie Mock\/Facebook)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Officers were called to the Wichita home Mock and Avers shared with Mock’s stepfather around 7:50 a.m. on Oct. 31. When they arrived, Mock was found outside with cuts on her hands, according to the Wichita Police Department.<\/p>\n

Avers was taken to a hospital with multiple stab wounds, and later died.<\/p>\n

Mock made several statements indicating she believed her mother was the devil, according to a probable cause affidavit. She allegedly told authorities that she killed her mother to “save herself.”<\/p>\n

Mock’s stepfather told KAKE-TV that she had been diagnosed with mental illness and suffered from delusions and depression.<\/p>\n

She previously worked as a news anchor and reporter for Fox 2 in St. Louis from 2011 to 2015, according to her LinkedIn profile.<\/p>\n

Prior to that, she worked as a morning anchor from 2007 to 2011 at KOKH-TV in Oklahoma City, the profile states. Mock held other reporting stints in Minnesota, Montana, and Nebraska.<\/p>\n
