{"id":3132,"date":"2026-05-02T09:31:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-02T09:31:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/playball.com.ng\/?p=3132"},"modified":"2026-05-02T09:31:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-02T09:31:09","slug":"37-year-old-who-has-outperformed-mourinho-is-being-seriously-considered-for-chelsea-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/playball.com.ng\/?p=3132","title":{"rendered":"37 Year Old Who Has Outperformed Mourinho Is Being &#8216;Seriously Considered&#8217; For Chelsea Job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<article>\n<p><strong>Porto head coach Francesco Farioli is being \u201cseriously considered\u201d as a candidate to be the new Chelsea boss, according to reports.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>TEAMtalk<\/em> claim that the 37-year-old is one of the names who could make the shortlist for Liam Rosenior\u2019s permanent successor.<\/p>\n<p>Farioli was appointed by Porto last summer, and he has had an excellent first season in charge of the Portuguese giants.<\/p>\n<p>They are currently sitting top of the table with three games to go, seven points ahead of closest rivals Benfica, who are managed by Jose Mourinho.<\/p>\n<p>Farioli could seal his first league title as a manager when Porto face Alverca on Saturday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sra_unit\"><link rel=\"stylesheet\" id=\"block-sra\" href=\"https:\/\/chelseanews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/snack-related-articles\/dist\/css\/snack-related.min.css?230424-120159\" type=\"text\/css\" media=\"all\"\/>\n<aside class=\"sra-group sra-related-list\">\n<h2 class=\"sra-group-head\">Most Read on Chelsea News<\/h2>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Chelsea may still favour more experienced candidates<\/h2>\n<p>Despite Farioli\u2019s impressive CV, the fact that he hasn\u2019t managed in the Premier League would count against him.<\/p>\n<p>Rosenior was hired without having any experience in the English top flight, and it soon became clear that he was way out of his depth.<\/p>\n<p>Farioli has more knowledge of coaching bigger teams, having taken charge of Ajax and Ligue One side Nice in previous seasons, but Chelsea are in a completely different ballpark in terms of the pressures that come with the job.<\/p>\n<h2>Who is favourite to become the next Blues head coach?<\/h2>\n<p><smartframe-embed customer-id=\"0fab81ce12e48a0794275e1d82449fb1\" image-id=\"1071072075\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 100%;\"\/><!-- https:\/\/smartframe.io\/embedding-support --><br \/>The bookmakers still make Bournemouth boss <strong>Andoni Iraola<\/strong> the leading candidate, but Xabi Alonso\u2019s odds have shortened considerably in recent days.<\/p>\n<p>Both managers have the same agent, and it is believed that Chelsea\u2019s leadership team have contacted their representative to ascertain their interest in the role.<\/p>\n<p>It appears that both are open to taking the position, although there are still doubts that Alonso (in particular) would accept the current management structure.
