1 May 2026 07:34 BST |<\/span> Chelsea will reportedly reopen talks with Enzo Fernandez over his long-term future at the club following the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n The Argentina international still has six years remaining on his current contract at Stamford Bridge, but he flirted with the idea of joining Real Madrid during the recent March international break and he has been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu over the past few months.<\/p>\n Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also known admirers of the 25-year-old, who has made 49 appearances for Chelsea so far this season, scoring 13 goals and providing six assists.<\/p>\n Fernandez was suspended for two games by the west London giants after hinting that he would like to move to Madrid in late March, but he is now back in the first-team fold, and he wore the captain\u2019s armband and scored the winner during their 1-0 victory over Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-final last weekend.<\/p>\n It has been widely reported that Fernandez, unlike Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill, isn\u2019t one of Chelsea\u2019s \u2018untouchables\u2019 ahead of this summer, with the club willing to listen to offers if a suitable bid is lodged.<\/p>\n However, a final decision has not been made and The Daily Mail<\/b> have now confirmed that Chelsea plan to hold fresh contract extension talks with Fernandez after the 2025-26 season ends on 24 May.<\/p>\n The Blues are instead eager to finalise an agreement for their next permanent head coach first, following the sacking of Liam Rosenior, and they will then turn their attention to discussions with their all-time record signing.<\/p>\n Fernandez was recently spotted at the Madrid Open alongside Chelsea team-mates Marc Cucurella and Joao Pedro, but his agent Javier Pastore was eager to pour cold water on reports suggesting that a transfer away from Stamford Bridge is expected to take place this summer.<\/p>\n During a recent interview with Spanish publication AS<\/b>Pastore admitted: \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of talk out there\u2026 but the truth is, nothing\u2019s really happening. He\u2019s focusing on finishing the year strong at Chelsea.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s true he made some comments that weren\u2019t entirely appropriate at the moment, but he didn\u2019t say anything out of the ordinary either. He simply talked about Madrid, which he likes a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n Pastore added: \u201cEvery time he has a day off, he comes to Madrid because I\u2019m there and because he has friends there. But that\u2019s all it is. Nothing more.
