Chelsea players would reportedly be thrilled at the prospect of working with club legend John Terry amid ongoing coaching upheaval at Stamford Bridge. The former Blues captain currently works in a part-time role with the club’s academy sides.<\/p>\n
Chelsea are searching for a new head coach following the dismissal of Liam Rosenior on Wednesday, just three months into his tenure. Academy coach Calum McFarlane will step up as interim boss until the end of the season, having previously overseen the side during the gap between Enzo Maresca’s exit and Rosenior’s arrival.<\/p>\n
The Daily Mail reports that McFarlane commands considerable respect within the Chelsea dressing room, with the report also indicating that players would be equally enthusiastic about working alongside Terry.<\/p>\n

“I absolutely wanted it,” he said. “When I went into Villa I got great experience under Dean Smith and we got promotion, which was incredible.”<\/p>\n
He added: “As an assistant coach in the Premier League and the experience I’ve had as a player and an individual captain in both Chelsea and England, I thought that would be enough to get me a job. I’m not saying a job in the Premier League or the Championship – but a job at League One level.”<\/p>\n
Reports suggest Terry would be eager to work alongside the Chelsea squad, but the 45-year-old has confirmed he is yet to receive any approach from the club.<\/p>\n
“I am not sure what Calum’s backroom staff is going to look like, I have not had a call, I have not had a message,” he said on his TikTok account.<\/p>\n

“I will be continuing my role in the academy, I will be in the academy tomorrow, a big couple of games coming up.<\/p>\n
“We will all get behind Calum, he did a great job away against Man City previously and we will get behind the boys because that is what we do.”<\/p>\n
McFarlane’s first match back at the helm takes place at Wembley Stadium, where the Blues take on Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-final this Sunday afternoon (3pm kick-off).<\/p>\n
They then return to Premier League action just over a week later, welcoming Nottingham Forest to Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n
