Alan Pardew cannot speak highly enough of Axel Disasi\u2019s impact both at West Ham United as a whole and on the form of centre-back partner Konstantinos Mavropanos.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Hammers have accumulated five clean sheets in ten Premier League matches since the Chelsea loanee made his debut in a 2-0 win at Burnley three months ago.<\/p>\n

Mavropanos highlighted Disasi\u2019s \u2018presence\u2019 and vocal nature as a major factor in West Ham United\u2019s revival, both on and off the pitch, when speaking ahead of Saturday\u2019s 3pm kick-off away to Brentford.<\/p>\n

For Alan Pardew, who famously took West Ham to an FA Cup final and a top-half finish in 2005\/06, the biggest plus regarding the signing of Axel Disasi is the new-found \u2018aggression\u2019 he has brought to a previously passive backline.<\/p>\n

\u201c(Disasi) has been a revelation since he\u2019s come to West Ham,\u201d Pardew tells talkSPORT. \u201cAnd I think he\u2019s brought a kind of aggression to that back four that was lacking. Their kind of intensity has gone up a level and that\u2019s massively important when you\u2019re fighting for your lives. <\/p>\n

\u201cSet plays, he\u2019s quite dominant. And I think he\u2019s brought the other fella (Mavropanos) to life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nuno Espirito Santo certainly sounds a lot more confident regarding West Ham\u2019s defending these days, at least in comparison to the last time they faced Brentford in October\u2019s 2-0 home defeat. <\/p>\n

The Hammers conceded nine set-piece goals in their first nine league matches of 2025\/26. Only eight have been let in during the following 25.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do think, obviously, Brentford at home at set plays are particularly strong and West Ham really need to cover that today,\u201d adds Pardew, the Bees having already stung Chelsea and Liverpool with some of Michael Kayode\u2019s famous long throws. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf they can cover Brentford at set plays, long throws, etc, they\u2019ve got a great opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hammers can go five clear as Tottenham travel to Aston Villa<\/h2>\n

Confidence is relatively high at the Hammers following the 2-1 victory over Everton last time out. They can move five points clear of Tottenham with a win this afternoon. <\/p>\n

Pardew thinks relegation would be \u2018catastrophic\u2019 for Spurs. One suspects there would be little sympathy in East London for the demise of their despised northern neighbours.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat result last weekend was massive for them,\u201d says Pardew. \u201cWhen you look at the league table, probably two wins will be enough from the games that are left. So (the Brentford game) is a great opportunity for them. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not a historically great ground for them \u2013 the last four times, I think it\u2019s been three defeats and a draw \u2013 so it\u2019s not a happy hunting ground, but they\u2019re in great form. Momentum when the group are together and you\u2019ve got that belief, it can really drive you on. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019ll be a cracking game this afternoon. I can\u2019t wait.<\/p>\n

\u201cI expect West Ham to be in a very, very good mood for this game because of the result last week. The fans will be up for it. I do fancy them actually to get something. And with Spurs at Aston Villa, it could be a crucial weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n
